HPC - Title: Bringing Open Source to Silicon- The NEO64 Instruction Set and Node Design Architectures

This talk will be covering the future of Open Source Silicon within the Open Compute Project and the development of REX Computing's HPC Focused "NEO64" Instruction Set Architecture, its 64 bit RISC many-core implementation, and a full node design built around the existing OpenRack standard. 

The open source model is a driving philosophy in software and has recently moved into mechanical hardware designs through OCP, however it is practically unheard of in the commercial semiconductor/integrated circuit world. Due to the small number of players in the microprocessor component design (and fewer in the full implementation and eventual fabrication) fields, companies have locked themselves into heavily proprietary IP focused business models that discourage true innovation and interoperability. With new open source software tools and projects like Open Compute, it is finally possible to have the ability and ecosystem to set free standards and provide reference designs true to the open source spirit, while being able to prosper as a modern semiconductor company
