HPC - Low Latency Silicon Interconnect Proposed Specification
This presentation will cover a proposed interconnect path for low latency multi processor energy efficient computing that will support up to exascale computing, code name LaserConnect. To accelerate time to market  LaserConnect 1.0 will be based on the  open multi vendor RapidIO 10xN (3.0) protocol leveraging the deployment attributes in over 100M production ports shipped into wireless networking, High Performance Embedded Computing, Space, Defence, Aerospace and Video applications.  It will benefit from many SoCs and interconnect devices and IP already being developed with RapidIO 10xN.  LaserConnect 2.0 will evolve from LaserConnect 1.0 for the specific needs of HPC, Supercomputing, High Performance Storage and financial trading and scale to higher bandwidths, and lower latencies.  LaserConnect will be focused on chip to chip, board to board, chassis to chassis and rack to rack for applications that are latency sensitive, but will work with Ethernet for Data Center spine scale out.

Networking - Presentation Virtual Network over TRILL (
A typical Cloud VPS implementation requires more logical networks than
traditional techniques can provide. Multiple tenants running numerous applications on on-demand cloud infrastructure require isolation, but traditional network isolation approaches such as the VLAN (IEEE 802.Q) do not provide enough segments for scalable cloud deployments whereas L3 solution such as NVGRE and VXLAN have their own shortcomings. Gandi meets these challenges with Virtual Network over TRILL (VNT).
VNT poses new challenges in term of performances and scaling which can not be easily solved by existing hardware solutions, and Gandi is partnering with Kalray to leverage their upcoming fully-programmable ManyCore smartNIC solution.

HPC - Title: Bringing Open Source to Silicon- The NEO64 Instruction Set and Node Design Architectures

This talk will be covering the future of Open Source Silicon within the Open Compute Project and the development of REX Computing's HPC Focused "NEO64" Instruction Set Architecture, its 64 bit RISC many-core implementation, and a full node design built around the existing OpenRack standard.

The open source model is a driving philosophy in software and has recently moved into mechanical hardware designs through OCP, however it is practically unheard of in the commercial semiconductor/integrated circuit world. Due to the small number of players in the microprocessor component design (and fewer in the full implementation and eventual fabrication) fields, companies have locked themselves into heavily proprietary IP focused business models that discourage true innovation and interoperability. With new open source software tools and projects like Open Compute, it is finally possible to have the ability and ecosystem to set free standards and provide reference designs true to the open source spirit, while being able to prosper as a modern semiconductor company

HPC - HPC Computing systems based on multicore systems on chip
Many industrial sectors such as automotive, healthcare, communication demand embedded or autonomous systems capable of delivering services increasingly diverse and sophisticated and requiring ever more computing power within a constrained power budget. The advent of new processor architectures called manycore, both energy efficient and highly effective open new fields of applications in embedded systems but also in HPC. Associating DSP, FPGA and CPU qualities, Kalray's manycore is an example of a versatile system on chip which can be used to implement new machine architectures which are needed to optimize the cost of the travelling bits along the system, in terms of energy used, without compromising the computing power.

HPC - System on chip for HPC
This talk will explore the benefits and tradeoffs with architecting a power efficient System on Chip (SoC) for HPC and comparing it to mainstream homogeneous multicore processors. Power efficiency drives the need for a heterogeneous compute architecture, with general purpose cores such as ARMs and compute focused elements such as DSPs or GPUs on the same device. The second component of the SoC is the integration of high speed IO such as SRIO and Ethernet, primarily for latency benefits and for further power and board are benefits

HPC - From Sensors to Supercomputers
As high performance computing marches towards exascale, energy efficiency has become increasingly an important factor with target  requirements of systems 50 times more power efficient than today's supercomputers.  This focus on energy efficiency has brought an increased interest in ARM technology as a component of next generation HPC.   ARM focuses on designing & licensing fundamental IP building blocks - which is all about integration. Integration fosters an ecosystem of standard pieces, effectively acting as COTS-on-Silicon (my invented term). COTS-on-Silicon encourages multi-suppliers to give the ecosystem the ability to deliver, through collaboration, continuous innovative solutions for Big Data & HPC type problems.  This talk will give an overview of the breadth of ARM technology and discuss how our partners couple our designs with their own products to provide compelling solutions.  It will also cover some of ARM’s ongoing research and development activities within the high performance computing market segment.
